This is the part where Wiesler listens to Dreyman play Sonata for a good man (Sonate vom guten Menschen )and becomes moved by it.This is Wiesler's turning point in the movie when he decides to be the "good man" so to speak. Afterwards he meets a boy in an elevator whose father view the Stasi as bad men. Wiesler does not ask for the name of the boy's father. This is from the movie the lives of others ( Das Leben der Anderen ). This is my 2nd youtube upload, comments and feedback are welcome!

Updated: I added a video of me playing Sonata for a Good man here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6fZUI...

Because American viewers generally don't like dubbing and would rather read subtitles instead.

Underrated? It won the Oscar for best foreign language picture, ahead of Pan's Labyrinth.

For me, the beauty of this film is that it starts with the ruthless dehumanising state system of East Germany, but morphs into a story about human being, specifically the watcher and the watched. The ending is deeply moving.

I predict that as time goes on, this movie will increasingly be seen as one the greatest movies of all time--at least top 100, and likely higher.

If, in any other film, after learning that a friend has killed himself, a man sits down and plays a 'Sonata for a Good man', it would be corny, and awful. But somehow....somehow...this is perfect.

As one reviewer in IMDB said "this is the most underrated film in 2006". one of the best ever.
