If this did happen, I can't see any states ever joining the EU. Also I can say with complete certainty Canada would not 'snatch' any northern states, we would let them join if they asked. What would happen to the US military? Civil war or peaceful split ups between republics? If some joined Canada do they bring a portion of the military? Also Canada should get Alaska, not like Russia needs any more territory- look what they did to Germany.
