Chengdu hot pot

A spicy delicacy surprise in Chengdu, China. Yes, we know the ingredients are a bit exotic in China, and it can be a little shocking at first.

typical westerners, don't appreciate what they have in front of them because they always seems to have an abundance in their culture and dont know what history has been like in china for centuries.

Seem you even feel too cool there, is that in winter time?

Must have been the winter. Chengdu is subtropical, it gets cool in November through February, however. Rarely it snows. Similar weather to Georgia USA.

Hot pot (huo guo) is one of my favorite dishes when you have good company. I also like fu qi fei pian (spicy beef and beef stomach). Try it if you like spicy food; you WILL love it!

Yes hot pot is by far my favorite chinese meal, this summer i will try to find some fu qi fei pian, do you possibly know any places in Xi'an that would serve it? What type of food is it like Sichuan ?

OMG, fu qi fei pian is my absolute favorite! I've only visited Chengdu and Beijing, so I don't know where in Xi'an it is served. Fu qi fei pian I believe is originally a Sichuan dish.

Sichuan cuisine employs robust taste. Typically contains red peppers, spices, and sometimes hua jiao, a spice that makes the mouth numb and tingly in a pleasant way.

I spoke with a friend who lived in Xi'an, and he has no specific recommendations. Just go to a Sichuan style restaurant (easy to find Sichuan restaurant in most Chinese cities).
