aurora, you did a beautiful job on the recording. It came across on my speakers clean, crisp, and clear. Thank you so much for your posts with the bands from my youth. These were the times I hardley ever missed a live peformance because it was affordable even for a teenager. I remember paying 3 or 4 dollars to go to a concert. Now your lucky to get in for less than $100.

Cippolina simply strikes the chord on lead. Santana has a great sound and style, but, for me, Cippolina is the best San Fran/West Coast sound lead guitar player in history. Has it all, from the crisp highs, fills and rhythms, simply dynamic from top to bottom, fast to flowing. To me, no one was more complete during those times. His live lead on the Who Do You Love cover is the best lead in I've ever heard from that time frame and genre.

In 1968 I saw Quicksilver at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. They were great and were the top billed band, but they were totally blown away by the third billed band, who were unknown at the time, and went by Santana Blues Band.

I was only 16 at the time, but hearing Santana at the Avalon in 1968 was a transforming experience for me!

My best friend and I were there that night. Someone set off a smoke bomb device. The crowd was led out (thinking it was a fire) by the time we reached the top of the exit/entrance stairs (short walk) we got the all clear to return. All those stoned people filed along calm and we returned to our original seats, no fighting no freaking out...THEN

Quicksilver was there on stage through the mist...yes; playing FRESH AIR.. oh man EPIC. Thought I would pass that along before us originals pass on.
