I think that while Paul made a lot of good songs, most of the one's that made the group were made by John. Strawberry Fields(which was before pepper), John's part of A Day In The Life, I Am The Walrus, and All You Need Is Love. Any one of those compared to a handful of Paul songs, and I'd give it to John. But who cares right? It's all just taste. The group wouldn't have been great without all five of them (George Martin).

I agree, Paul and Ringo were the only two who would have been okay with continuing as the Beatles. Paul talked like he knew better and George didn't like that. Which songs are better are up to perspective. I still think John's "Across The Universe" tract was the best on the Let It Be album. George Martin's favorite on Abbey Road was "Come Together." But again, they were all very flawed people at the time.

Yeah it is all personal opinions. I prefer Paul's writing style. It is more upbeat imo. He could rock out as well. The Long and Winding Road was my favorite on Let it Be and Golden Slumbers was my favorite on Abbey Road. The whole B side on Abbey Road is amesome. And I guess Paul did appear a little bossy there but if the band isn't cooperating, who else is going to call them out? According to Paul, John wasn't into it.

And to add to that. George was willing to listen for most their career to what Paul wanted on his songs. Things changed though and George got more touchy about that. He was less tolerant of Paul. He wanted the freedom to go on his own and do his style. If it wasn't for Yoko, the Beatles could've gone on without George Harrison imo with more success.

Look at any Paul Mccartney interview about LSD at the time. He was very smug about being an LSD user. "Probably"? Come on. And the better Paul, George, and John got, the bigger all their ego's got. They were all very flawed people at the time and all of them would admit it.

Mary ... how do you really feel about yoko? But most of us agree with your basic premise - she controlled John and split up the group

John had absolutely no contempt for Paul at that point. John and George went behind Paul's back and allowed the Let It Be sessions to be produced by Phil Specter who absolutely bungled the entire thing. Paul got his in-laws, the Eastmans in to handle their business affairs because at that time they were financially all screwed up. Paul was RIGHT nonetheless but George and John resented him for being RIGHT!--being a responsible adult and business minded and not a druggy screw up.

It was Paul who was mostly pissed over it all though, not John. John had no anger with Paul ...until he heard THIS SONG.
And realized how angry Paul really WAS! and again, Paul was RIGHT, and again John resented him, for being RIGHT!
So John goes and writes this nasty, profane and completely unnecessary mean hearted vile song for Paul.
And Paul's like: ..um hello, I didn't have my WIFE help me write my song like you did".
again, Paul's right. Yoko HELPED write "how do you sleep". sick bitch
