In case you haven't seen it there is a video here on youtube called Temptations vs the Tops. Bill Cosby hosted battle of the groups which featured The Drifters, The Cadiliacs, The Tops and Temps and the Tops and Temps stole the show at the Apollo. Give it a watch it is a good one.

you don't have to be a certain color to enjoy this music, but back in the day, only the black groups were putting this stuff out. In the late 50's Buddy Holly was the only white performer doing what most considered at the time to be black music. It took him and the crickets a while to get a record deal because of that. So yes, from that perspective, color has alot to do with the making of the music.

Who was the better group...4 tops or temptations?
