I understand that Michael Jackson even recorded a version of this tune - even though this tune was a fantastic effort by Chris Clark, it "bubbled under" the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #105 in October of 1966-

I read somewhere that there were people at Motown who felt that Chris Clark wasn't that good of a singer, but she was closely associated with Berry Gordy - in fact, Gordy was infatuated with her because she was a tall, platinum blonde who resembled Dusty Springfield-

Back in 1966 my girlfriend bought this 45 for me after we'd had an argument. I got the message. We made up soon afterward. Great song! Badass then, badass now!

i first learned about Chris Clark in the book CALL HER MISS ROSS- had never heard of her before.

THEN I heard this song on the first HITVILLE USA boxed set, and I was floored...great talent...she was singing her behind off on this!

mnmcv1...r u me? lol, that is so crazy...i got that book at a thrift store and heard about chris for the first time too. I too went on to get the Hitsville boxes set and was awed. i don't know why this wasn't more of a hit! (Also, I especially love The Temps and "I Want a Love I Can See" on the hitsville set, should've been a hit too!!) Lots of great songs on there...
