hmm, this could very well put my old tape-deck to use. i just wonder if the vacuum needs to be very strong, or if a simple vacuum (with quite a bit of air) archived with a simple vacuum pump will be enough?

no, you didn't. I was just clarifying that you knew the difference between that and these x-rays in a vacuum... if I recall my 8th grade science lesson correctly, that was the E released from breaking of H bonds
