This tune is Drowsy Maggie. It is an old Irish tune, and an extremely popular one. Unfortunately so popular that it is played to bleedin' DEATH by people that play the violin in some genre (usually classical), and think, therefore, that they can also play Irish diddley music, by association as it were. So they open some book of "Irish Fiddle Peices - grade 3 and up", arranged for violin and piano or some other trash, and almost invariably end up strangling this tune, cos it's so damn popular. I put up this video because try as I might, I could not find any straight, reasonably good recordings of it anywhere.
Although I must admit, I'm not playing it that well myself here. It's a bit fast, and a bit too swung for my liking. I was going to take another video, but my camera ran out of battery.

@Romanokeydokeys It's not about speed. I know I played it fast here, but I probably should have slowed it down a little. Work on the phrasing, timing, tone, style, everything in fact, first. (I know I can't really talk here though, as I haven't exactly followed that advice myself, but hey... )
So recharge your battery and do it over again. I am retired after 30 years in a symphony orchestra and have a gig in January, and you are right, changing genres isn't easy. I want to do it justice, and you are the best I've found. I am not too old to learn.
