I was 7 years old when this game was played, and I remember it was the game that got me really excited about the Buckeyes. I followed them closely for the rest of the year, through the dramatic blocked punt against Michigan and the heart-wrenching 17-16 loss to USC. Damn you, Charles White! We were THIS close to a national championship that year! Loved Schlichter!

What a tragic story is that of Art Schlicter. Serious talent utterly wasted. Look at the touch on the ball in the touchdown throw. He has lost everything dear. I can't imagine the dark cloud he must live under. Art, if you read this, Jesus loves you (and will forgive you).

I saw Schlichter play in High School, too. Believe it or not, I think that his passing skills actually deteriorated some at tOSU. It's a shame that he didn't have his head screwed on straight. He could have been an NFL star, but he threw it away with his gambling.

I know he was very unhappy with Earle particularly with his play calling. Art liked Woody more.
