HeadNtheClouds - having never seen Matisyahu live, I don't know if his fans toke at his shows or not, but how exactly is blazing a doobie a "contradiction"? God made pot. Many people use it and other drugs to get in touch with their spirituality, God, and the world around them. It's not so odd.

it's BAAL TESHUVA, not "balchuva"... there's a lot of variation with Hebrew transliteration, but jeez.

"Owner of repentance or master of choice". That's Baal teshuva.

Baal Teshuva means that he was living as a secular Jew, but one day he repented and started living a truly jewish life. That's what Baal Teshuva means: "The owner of repentance".

ha haa, funny, but I know this was an answer to something else someone had asked, that has been removed. It was 4 months ago or more, so I can't remember what that was in reference to anymore. I am a Polish (American now) Jew, I know what Hinay Ma Tov is, for sure! ha ha

Balchuva is a person who is born a jew , but doesn't follow the traditional religion. Then later in life follows the traditional Jewish religion. If your talking about being exposed to pot, then your not being realistic. Everyone is exposed to it. Depending on what they desire inside, determines what they do.

What is Balchuva? It is not my intention to judge people, but in this situation, this is a very holy song to the Jewish people & I know my nephew is very involved in the youth groups & loves Matisyahu & I would not like him to be exposed to it, or any other youth group person... that's all... Peace/Shalom!

first, he is a balchuva. second ,Its not so odd to see people pray in the jewish style.. so many religions come from the jewish religion. third, who cares if they smoke up,.. just like any other mild altering substance it can be used for a positive or a negative reason. Many people use Beer and vodka to relax and get to a higher level. Many people use these things for negative purposes too.
