The ending of this film reminded me of a passage in Nabokov's Lolita in which the narrator imagines drowning his wife: "It was like some dreadful silent ballet with the male dancer holding the ballerina by her foot and streaking down through watery twilight."

This is my favourite Maya Deren film. Such a deeply haunting finale.
