Certified Intergalactic! The Ferras Star! I credit Ferras with having the best rendition of the Sibelius Violin Concerto as a whole. His 2nd movement is unequaled. Also this 1st movement and the 3rd.

the vibrato might add to this piece, but you have to admit it is a bit irritating to look at. it does seem a bit tense, even it probably isn't for him.

The vibrato isn't for show. It's the sound that's produced. Every good instrumentalist, or singer has their own style of doing vibrato, and I like this guy's style of vibrato.

This is the best version for me and I am also a Scandinavian with a knowledge of Sibelius and other greats from Scandinavia!

Ferras does his lifes best performance here!!

Movement 1,2 and 3 are equally moving! Oistrakh comes close, but for me Ferras "nailed it""

max,

this is the first time i heard christian play sibleius and you are right: he nails the bleak scandinavian atmosphere that sibelius was trying to create and convey.

before this, i thought nigel kennedy's version ruled but no...i have a new gold standard: christian ferras'!

bravo! bravo! and rest in peace mr ferras!

How about that. A violin concerto centred around the violin.

talk about a violin concerto that does not concentrate on the violin
