but I read that the oldest melody with text was made by danish vikings in 975 - and found in yorkshire in england.

The oldeset complete melody with text so far found, is the famous "Song of Seikilos" from ancient Greece, c.100BC! The Hurrian Hymn also has text, but the piece has only survived as a fragment, and unlike ancient Greek alphabetical musical notation (whereby letters above the text represented pitch), the Cunieform notation of the Hurrian Hymns are very ambiguous - my arrangement of Hurrian Hymn no.6 here, is one of several academic interpretations of what the actual melody sounded like!
