I just read that samll part. Sorry but this sentence is nonsense. (For all those who does not know that part: my translation from german into english would be "Who wants to save his live will lose it; who loses his life because of me will save it")

In short: A guy with a pistol shoots at you: If you stay there you'll be dead; if you hide in a tank you'll be dead; if you just stay there and say "In the name of the Jezz man" you will be save no matter how much you look like a swiss cheese

Not everything in the Bible is literal. This verse is talking about eternal life. Obviously if someone aims a gun at you head and shoots you, you're going to die (unless something supernatural occurs). But if the person that shot you did so because you were Christian, or because you refused to denounce Christ, THAT is what this verse is talking about.
Some things are literal, some things are not. Peace.
