I don't think it would work. I've addressed this question at work regarding stem cell transplant, wondering if there is any way the stem cells from chimps would work in humans since the DNA is almost identical. The reason I was given that it wouldn't work is because there is enough genetic difference in that 2% window that would make it fail. This makes sense if you consider all the apparent differences between the two, even in light of a close DNA.
I think it was rather obvious that the question and my answer were referring to natural procreation, as in sexual intercourse resulting in offspring. Your argument is unnecessarily semantical.
It might still be possible even without tricks.. who knows at what stage of hybrid breakdown we are all at. I don't see anyone volunteering to fuck a monkey though.

Given the variablity in MHC proteins it wouldn't be surprised if allografts didn't work since we've known this for a while.
Yet take two horses and swap tissues without drugs and there would be rejection.
They could however have sex and have little horses that were perfectly fine of course.
And with antirejection drugs people have pig heart valves, baboon thyroids, etc put in
And you can even cross breed all species of wild horses/zebra/donkeys together in many combinations.
Help anyone?
