This recording was converted from an old VHS, so not the best video quality.
Sad to say that the 24-etude set was not complete on the cassette. There were only Nos. 1-11., 13, 14, 17, 20 and 24.

For me it's fantastic how his righthand stays "in" the instrument every place of the bow and how righthand's fingers eventually "bite" the strings!
Anyway, check out young master's incredible technique and the sound (especially for staccati, spiccati and ricochets), musically also intelligent. Recorded in 1981.

I am aware that it's an etude, but my philosophy is that all music, etude or not, should be treated as music, not a study. it shouldn't sound like technical practice.
I love the way the descending harmonic minor scale sounds. It stands out so much, even to my 20th century ears. Does anyone else feel that way as well? But I love the way it sounds, for Paganini to use it in a slow caprice was a wise decision, it is very effective IMO. I enjoy Mintz's interpretation of Paganini's Caprices. His technique and body language are well suited to perform them.
