You're correct; it would be next to impossible to improve upon this movie. However, I would like to see a modern remake of the silent film, Golem.

I'm unsure if classics can ever be remade in this decadent/perverted modern world.

I find Nosferatu to have one primary feature that Golem does not: the antagonist is actually frightening, and that really makes Nosferatu a timeless film. However, the Golem creature just looks ridiculous, and the acting is poor as well. That being said, I'll always be a fan of Golem's story, and I think there's still a lot of potential in a remake. Overall, your point is well-made; perhaps it's just wishful thinking on my part.

It is much the same with any revival, be it music, film, clothing & even politics or do they like to call it retro these days lol.
I whole heartedly agree about your opinion of der golem.
Nosferatu is one of the most compelling characters to bless the silver screen, the anaphase is my favourite part, I feel Art Zoyds music is the most suited & gives it so much atmosphere & depth to be nothing but mesmerizing.
Todays World is not capable of producing many films of this calibre, sadly.

I think glitches is referring to "Nosferatu the Vampyre" with Klaus Kinski (1979). There is also "Shadow of the Vampire", a fictionalized account of the making of Nosferatu with Willem Dafoe as a vampiric Max Schreck (2000)

In 1972, I believe. It was pretty awful.
