Went to see Mary a few year ago in Belfast with my girl friend, we were a few minutes late and she stopped the whole song till we were sat down and comfortable, no joke. Special singer, beautiful song.

Mary Black is one of my favourite singers on the planet, but my favourite version of this is Michael Marra. Could be Burns himself.

I think the problem is that she mixes two verses together by mistake. The second part of the verse at 1:48 is "The wisest man...". I think that's why she laughs.

Rikki. Actually, when he put his arm around her she lost her place and jumped the second part of the verse to the second part of the one after.

Just noticed that ( at your prompting ) and I think you are exactly right. Heh, it distracted her and she looked at the next verse instead of the one she was on. Nice catch, gourdonboy. Still was beautiful, though.

Besides, I love the fact that the gentleman ( I assume he is her husband ) wanted everyone to know that she was his dearie-o and he hers. I'll take that anytime.
