Additionally his boarding the Bellerophon was on the understanding that he was requesting asylum. Not being a head of state, but a titular sovereign, he wasn't in a position to surrender anything. Hence the allusion to Themistocles asking for asylum from his former enemies

he surrendered himself...
I never said he surrendered France.....
The vessel & all on board surrendered to HMS Bellerophon & Captain Maitland
the vessel was a prize of the Royal navy...

He boarded HMS Bellerophon. He wasn't on a vessel that the Royal Navy boarded, so what the "prize" you mentioned could have been is a mystery.

Napoleon was trapped by the Royal naval blockade he had no choice but to surrender.
he even said to Captain Maitland that he wanted to sail for the US. No chance...
He surrendered.

Like I said, he wasn't on a vessel, he was in the harbour. He did have the choice of either sneaking past stowed in a barrel, or accepting the offer of being carried out while a French captain sacrificed his ship to allow him to get away. He rejected both plans on the grounds that it would mean sacrificing innocent people to allow him to escape. He also rejected sailing for the US on the grounds that it would be like being buried alive, along with his cause.

The point I was underlining was that he didn't surrender France.

And in fairness, the only time he came up against Nelson personally, Napoleon won. Nelson tried to imitate Francis Drake and attack the fleet in the harbour at Boulogne. It backfired and his popularity suffered for some time. (Not that Trafalgar didn't repair that).

Nelson sank Admiral Bruey's fleet. Napoleon was inland and had just won the battle of the Pyramids. The French evacuated Egypt in 1801, by which time he'd returned to France and become First Consul. The French general in command in Egypt in 1801 was Menou.

... And Royal Navy losses in 1804 & 1806? I'm not belittling the best Navy in the world at the time, I'm just pointing out that they got a run for their money against land positions.
