I hadn't heard a good voice in Les Poppys recently. At last they found a voice almost as good as the original Poppys. Check my video response.
Also I miss the independent presentation without a conductor. They used to be so much less contrived that way. Now the kids appear to be lead like a bunch of lost amateurs instead of talented performers..

That's not true.

Voices are not the same, they sound different, but I don't agree with you. Did you ever went to the Gala of the Petits Chanteurs d'Asnières each year ? If so, you would'nt say that the voices aren't so good as they were in the 70's.

I can find you videos where voices in the 70's are quite bad. Boys are boys. They have different voices, but we can't say that 7's ones were better ! they are directed by the same man, so why would he choose worse voices as before ? :)

I don't know about your ears but mine can tell a huge difference in the strength, confidence and tonality in their voices.

PS. I love all kids who get up there and give it their best but some are just very outstanding and deserve extra credit.

Most of the shows in the 70's were "Playback" the voices were recorded in studio. it's also normal and easier to be confident when recording in studios than in front of an audience.

But anyway, we both agree to the fact that they are all incredible performers, aren't they ? :) :)

Agreed totally. There is one example I would like to point out about delivery with confidence in spite of less than steller tonality. its "Le Mendiant de l'Amour". I still watch and enjoy this fellows presentation. He is a performer.

Pardon my terrible french. But in english I was saying they are both in the same league.
