For years we've been reading about a patch of garbage the size of Texas floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, ingeniously dubbed the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Basically, any trash that gets dumped in the water rides the currents to this one spot and joins an ever-increasing flotilla of crap. For all the breathless accounts of the mess and its impact on the area's sealife, however, no one seemed to have a picture of the buildup.
In order to sate our own curiosity, VBS joined the crew of a research vessel studying the trash and sailed out into one of the most remote spots of open water in the world, the North Pacific Gyre, in search of this mythical garbage island. What we discovered once we got there was an ecological disaster beyond any of our expectations and possibly the single worst thing human beings have done to the planet and ourselves. Hope you're into cancer and sex-reversal!

@dills2403 This is a collection of garbage from around the world. The reason that it has all congregated in te area that is has, is because of the ocean currents. So no, it's not all America's fault.
The main reason that it is still there is because the amount of money needed to remove it is far too great for any one country. Also it has now become so large that it is an ecosystem in itself and so unfortunately if it was removed it would actually be detrimental to the environment.
This is a REAL environmental issue that needs addressing. Co2 is not a 'dangerous pollutant' as the EPA recently declared. AGW is a myth that elitists have used to hijack the real environmental movement which is terrible because we really need to be focusing on cleaning up the seas and eliminating other toxic wastes. Let me repeat: AGW is a farce; it was created as a way to hijack the REAL environmental movement in order to push a ONE-WORLD Government. This video focuses on a real issue.
I was gently hinting HIM not to undermine HIS OWN cause. You want to bring about change and make a difference, then grow up, control your emotions, be respectable and not self-destructive. Give respect to garner respect. You undermine the importance of a great (all our) cause when you don't respect your audience. Hence, we are talking about the medium more than than the issue. That's a lesson itself. My kids get better education and information from me than any of you so called whatevers. Thanks
@moonlite920 Well said. If he wants to reach the widest audience possible with the most credibility he should speak in a way that can reach everyone and everywhere. Sure he has every right to be upset and to use bad language, there's just no point in using it in a documentary aimed at enlightening people and changing minds. It just turns off too many people and closes too many doors. Definitely not helpful or mature.
