What I wish to be emphatic about is that many Scots vehemently deny their kilt is any kind of skirt. I have seen one red faced with hysteria and boiling mad towards me for my position. The thing about Scots is "tradition," innovation is of no interest to them. Yet, all that is tradition had to originate as innovation. Then there are the hateful psychiatric fomented jokes as to "what do transvestites wear in Scotland?" I do rate the Black Watch costume as among the 5 best in the entire world
This is getting silly. If you read what I wrote, I said a kilt is a type of skirt. Wrap skirts are kilts or kilt-like. I never declared other garments are not skirts. Anyway, let's not have an argument where there is no basis for it, put words in my mouth , and misinterpret my position.
Lots of skirts are wrap garments. Women have wrap skirts. South Seas styles are all wraps. Foustanellas are ALL wraps. You wanna say those Greeks aren't wearing a skirt because what they wear wraps? Yes you are still butting a stump. Bazooka to my temple, chainsaw to my throat, hysterical Scots yelling at me I STILL say kilts are solidly in the master classification of skirt. That kilts use no zipper & button nor elastic waistband does not remove them from skirt category. Verdad es paz.
First, sorry about my horrid typing. It should have read: This is a KILT, not a skirt.
I don't think it's butting my head to properly describe something accurately by accepted terms. A kilt is a type of skirt, yes. However skirts are not a wrap garment, nor is a proper kilt made just like a skirt. Why should there be a problem with making a simple distinction?
Is "noot" ethnic lingo? The world has seen this statement go round & round. A garment can be a kilt, utilikilt and STILL is a skirt, that being ANYTHING hanging from waist & enclosing legs TOGETHER. Don't be like the man who said "it's not a motor vehicle, it's a Volkswagen" see actually it's BOTH. Just as Arizonans & Idahoans etc are different yet BOTH Americans. Kilts are forever a subcategory in the master category of SKIRT why butt your head on a stump denying it??
