Although the Celts were warriors, they also had a vibrant civilization.

It's been said by some historians that If the Romans hadn't consolidated power in (what is now) Italy and became an Empire that there would have been a Celtic Empire in Europe and the British Isles.

(Celtic Gaul--France-approx) was one of the first major conquests)

By the time Roman power waned hordes from the east (Goths, Huns, etc.) were encroaching on the settled and developed parts of Celtic Europe.

They were famous all over the known world for their beautiful art and metal works before the Romans, thankfully their legends and myths have survived as a testament to their creativity (as well as the many beautiful archaeological finds).
