This is BBs 1st recording. Tape-box simply stated J.P. Richardson. It was recorded at Jay Miller's studio in Crowley, Louisiana. No info of year. It's on Flyright LP 532, "The Leg. Jay Miller Sessions - Louisiana Swamp Pop, volume 11" It's a audition test. B Bastin liner notes; "Miller intended to record him properly but a combination of Richardson's army call-up and Miller moving studio sites meant...chance was lost". Pno by a local black guy, "Peaches" who later joined Ray Charle's outfit.

After hearing this, I'd say George Thorogood pretty much owes his sound to the Big Bopper. What a great talent and pioneer we lost 50 years ago this month. RIP J.P., Buddy and Ritchie!
