yea what she did in the mid seventies was quite new and creative, the rest of it though for me seems like a big waste, also the mid seventies was a much more irresponsible crazy time for many, that was pre PC pre internet pre realestate inflation bubble that was an entirely different era...so for me patti was great then but now shes a tired old act..some people like it that's their business for me its boring...i think for guys who have not been around many women she might seem mysterious ..

Not to take away from the works of kevin smith, but it's not really groundbreaking, spoken word with improvisational guitar is not far off of traditional blues.

actually her first albums with the 'Patti Smith Group', are a lot different, more youthful and raw, compared to her later solo albums when they became more folky-less punk. The content is conveyed in much different way.
