Who would have known that 30 years later, there would be a lot of singer/dancers "lipsynching" their lyrics onstage? There has to be a British comedienne who could have spoofed Kate circa 1980 much in the same way a certain California comedienne would spoof a certain blonde a decade later. (Look how far headset mics have come in those 30 years.)
Yes, unfortunately people nowadays think dancing equates to making aerobic efforts that totally hinder a decent vocal performance (not that many could achieve Kate's vocal perfection anyway, even if they didn't dance, but fact is they don't even try).
I was at this concert, lucky enough to be a huge Kate fan and sitting in the front row. I teach kids now and her moves are still a huge influence in my choreography.
The song and all of Kate's performances of it are addicting. This was the first I saw back in 1982, and I really thought at the time that she was ready to float off the stage while singing it. Just extraordinary. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic and original, makes me feel depressed when I look at the female 'artists' of today. I only hope that this corrects itself one day and we start seeing true talent like Kate again.
