Hey now.......Hitler didn't build any army in secret. He re-armed Germany throughout the mid to late 1930's with complete contempt for the treaty of Versailles, open violations without reprimand by the democratic enforcers. Rather, they assisted him in carving up Europe through failing to do so. Where do we see these parallels today?
French colonial troops? Which ones were they? Were they the ones who fought for Vichy AGAINST us as in Syria? France was a very divided country and Vichy was anti British and pro Nazi. They sent FRENCH Jews to their deaths. I have great admiration for the French resistance but you need to tread carefully when talking of their colonial troops.
The russian invasion happened on 22 June 1941, while the operation Sea lion was put off almost a year earlier, because the Luftwaffe (4,074) were unable to destroy the RAF(1,963). The RAF was made up of mainly British while about a quarter was Commenwealth.
God, you guys are nuts. It was neither Britain nor the US that won the war. I thank the Russians who suffered most. I thank all the French colonial troops and those from the Commonwealth that played their part.
@ MultiLisaLee dont try to tell an American about fighting for freedom because if you read your history you'd realize America beat Britains ass twice when they tried to bring us down.
July 4th 1776 look that date up before you try to play the fighting for freedom card again.
England simply did not have the resources to hold back the superior German forces had Operation Sea Lion taken place and the Soviet invasion never happend. The Nazi's had the resources from their newly aquired land and a superior Airforce.
Sorry but the Brits only faught about one half of the German air power and they barely managed. German bomber were hitting factories, military bases, radar stations etc...
Wow I'm sorry to bring you back to earth but the Third Reich was completely capable of ocupying England and causing a full surennder.
The German Luftwaffe was the superior Airforce to the RAF and yes even the American Airforce. It was Hitler's foolish mistake to invade the USSR when he still had a war to win on the Western front. This caused most of his army's strength to be split. If they postponed Barbarossa and and sent a full force to the UK history would have been different.
