Normal people, even those who work a typical nine-to-five job commit assault, battery, and much worse and still get away with it. People say "celebrities always get away with shit" because they're being looked at under a microscope. Put a typical American under a microscope and you'd be surprised with what you find out. I'm not saying he's innocent, because the proof is more than in the pudding, but this is getting rather old. He's not stupid, he knows what he did and he'll remember forever.
