Opening scene from THE AGE OF IGNORANCE, last film of Denys Arcand, presented in last Cannes Fim festival (2007), where RW performs a role of a prince singer (not "rebel" in this case). In this scene, RW sings a beautiful aria of Zemire et Azor ("opèra comique" inspired in "Beauty and the Beast" story in the original French libretto) of André Ernest Modeste Grétry (1741 -- 1813) who throughout the late 18th century, was the dominator of this genre. The lyrics, below...

It's an aria from Gretry's opera "Zemire et Azor". Not a lot of CD recordings are available because it is not one of those virtuoso operas by classical masters that get recorded and staged thousand times. While this is a beautiful beautiful piece laid on beautiful lyrics, its melody is rather simple. Rufus's unique voice makes it more interesting but you might not be so thrilled by a real operatic version.

Or is there a recording of this aria as sung by Rufus in the movie, that is available anywhere?
I've searched but found nothing.
