Saw Pete a month ago at Vassar college in Poughkeepsie, NY at 90 years old, still playing the banjo and dancing. He is an amazing legend, I'm so happy i got to experience him! great video

This looks like a kine filmed off a cathode projector (I think) anyway - this is ultra low budget TV - but what a valuable load of info it contains. If it's not in the Library of Congress yet - it willbe. Pete recorded a guitar instruction album (vinyl) my introduction to guitar - he sorta taught me how to play - then I discovered Doc Watson and I learned how I could probably never play. Great upload. Many many thanks.

You would be quite suprised at how good a guitarist Pete is. His arrangements are lovely and knowlegable. He is underrated because his guitar style is used to accompany, not lead.

Pete is an awesome guitarist and banjo player. Such an inspiration. I got to meet him once and he signed my banjo. =)

Thanks again, Sam. An irresistible clip. My, how I'd like to have been around to watch those programmes and see the power of folk music grow in the land.
