Klingoncelt: I don't what your first language is but if you're using Google to translate, sometimes it's not the best. For example, I said "...the... experts ACCEPT the plural agreement..." {emphasis added}. This does NOT mean the same as "... decide(d) IN FAVOR OF..." {emphasis added} as you translated. Thus the singular is MOST correct by ANY standard. Don't give up though, the nuances of English are very difficult. Keep trying, buddy! But you might try using several translation programs...

Every one that has ever sung has contributed to making musice what it is. The Beatles made a greater contribution than most.

Umm..if the "experts" decide in favor of the plural, then the singular is LESS correct, popular use and opinion notwithstanding.

Dear walleyrange, Before casting aspersions on people, please finish your education. I have, with a Masters in Communications. AuH2O is the most correct. "The Beatles" is a singular name of a singular band, thus the verb agreement with "is" is absolutely correct. Before others cast aspersions on ME, I will add that, sadly, the great majority of grammar texts and "experts" accept the plural agreement. BUT that does not make it MORE correct than the MOST correct "is". And, it's "it's", not "its".
