Pretty good. improvisation can wait. First you should focus on every song you try too play. After you've listened so well the keyboards, and have the sounds in your memory, you should improvise (remember that chopin copied beethoven's moon light in fantaisie impromptu). There are also many more cases, but i have very few words to write left so, very well performed child, keep practicing cuz there are a lot of little talents!!! let's do this!

i was 16 when i learned how to play. i did not have lessons i had no previous musical backround, i just walked up to a piano one day and started playing improvisations. i didnt like classical music at the time now i love it. being a child and playing the piano means nothing if you dont try to create your own pieces these children should focus on improv.

in this case it's probably a very small difference between "prodigy" and being forced to play from very young age on...

"Writing with mastery" is exactly what it means. And that is, in literature, writing a unique work that can be considered mature and with clearly or subtly embedded meaning or purpose. In music that means the same thing and nothing to do with memorization.
