I met the great Mr. Krupa several times during my younger days. He was a great inspiration to me. I have played drums throughout my life.I am still a member of a big band. I posted my "Bob Pettinicchi Tribute to Gene Krupa" drum solo on this page. Check it out. I am 67 years old. This is my little tribute to a great drummer, a legend and a true gentleman.

I met Lionel Hampton in 1984 at a press party for the New Orleans World's Fair, yes I'm 50, anyway he was a classy, refined gentleman. The perfect representation of the Big Band Kings.

Travis Barker isn't one of top tier when it comes to soloing or experimenting on the kit but his skill shows in how solid he plays. He is pretty fast with the hands, very good consistent drummer, and his timing is impeccable which are qualities most drummers over look these days. Drummers can't even keep up a simple 4/4 beat without screwing up. Also when I heard his studio sessions are done without a click or a back track... that blew my mind!

I'll tell you one great rock drummer who draws heavy influence from jazz greats: Ian Paice of Deep Purple.

These Travis Barker comments are all posted by the same dipshit kid. He goes under a bunch of different screen names and just spends time going on videos of all the great jazz drummers and insulting them and claiming that Travis Barker is a god because his life is so pathetic that he has nothing better to do.

the guy knows what hes doing, has excellent technique when hes not trying to be flashy, and is actually underrated because of the kind of music he plays. these old timers knew how to play, everything they do is rudimentary in nature, and they have some serious chops, as does travis. however, they play different music and therefore i wouldnt bother comparing.
