Yeah, it must bring up things from his past that he is probably over by now, and needs not be reminded of. Probably a part of his recovery is to not delve into things that stir up deep-rooted pain. Most of the songs on "Purest Feeling" and PHM are all quite heart-wrenchingly personal.
