Excellent video and very helpful! You saved us in our crunch to complete a Christmas gift!.. Is there any way to put two twists into the scarf (i.e., one for front and one for back?) Many thanks!
A Moebius always has an odd number of half-turns so you cannot ever have one with 2 twists. To get a 2-twist loop, merely cast on and twist the cast-on. It will give you an even number of half-turns or twists. It will also ALWAYS have 2 edges and 2 surfaces, while a Moebius will ALWAYS have 1 edge and 1 surface.
Thank you Cathy! So just to clarify - to get 2 twists I would cast on regularly (say cable cast on) and twist my stitches 180 degrees? Wow! I've never left stitches twisted to find out! Another reminder about all the interesting things that are just around the corner with knitting!
Thanks again Cat - you've been so very helpful! And yes, I think you're right... two twists would be more awkward AND not nearly as fun/magical as knitting a moebius -- Diana
It all depends on the kind of pattern . . . but yes, you can start right away. Be ready for lots of surprises and fun. The Moebius is the ultimate knitter's playmate, and always has a twinkle in its eye as it shows you new tricks.
I saw a scarf using your method. It was sooooo nice. I just have to make one myself. Thanks so much for the video. I'm a very experienced knitter, but I would have never thought that a mobeus was done this way.
