I'd say the difference between Martha and Madonna is that Martha can sing, whereas Madonna actually can't.

A fake. Misses by a mile. She bought Garland's orchestration and tied herself up in it trying to do the same thing Garland did.
Might have been better if she found her own 'truth', rather than borrowed Garland's. Yes, she too close to the mike.
