That's really great! I've already seen such record bikes on rails, but this one is just fun in the garden :-)

why is it making a 'chugga chugga' sound

The 'chugga' noise is one of those peculiarities of steel wheels running on metal rails. It will be caused by sort of vibration in the wheel itself

Great video! Especially rewarding for me as having built the frame I never saw it run. Incidentally when Ian gave me the drawing for this he asked me to build two. The other one is still a bare frame in the factory. I would love to see someone else get this much fun out it (and save my shins).
You can check out other Greenspeeds in action in my videos.

I'm tempted to buy that one too if it doesn't find a home! We could have even more fun with two.

Stunning, I have often dreamed of adapting a recumbent to operated on the endless unused railways here in the Canadian prairies. Is this an actual Greenspeed produced set-up, or is it your adaptation of one of their road frames? Well done, either way.

Greenspeed made the X4 especially for us, but they have a stock of parts to build further machines if asked! With different axles, it could run on any gauge, and on a big line, it would be pretty fast...
