From watching the video I think Beck was looking at his instrument because something was wrong with it. That distracted him, making him forget the words. Because between like 0.50 and 1.00 he is talking to someone and then suddenly you can hear his guitar (and they stop talking.)

If that makes sense XD.

Basically I think it was a techincal glitch.

i like Beck but this is poor..if you cant learn the lines to your own song wheres the heart. poor at best, glad i wasnt there to witness this.

Well, everyone has their off days. However, he did choose an extremely clever spot to forget the lyrics: "In a junkyard say amen
Your mouth is full of wordless hymns
And run-on sentences" - to be followed by a line about forgetting and holding nothing. Actually, a large portion of the song is about remembering, and having forgotten much (effectively youthless if you can't remember it, at least that's my take). Plus he needs a "teleprompter for my life."

Why is he reading his lyrics off something at 28 seconds in? That's pretty bad. He still sings the wrong ones.

Beck was sick this evening, but he wished all the same sung and to make his concert.

Is he reading the lyrics or looking down at his instrument?

Considering the confused look on his face and his lack of singing the proper words, I'm led to believe that he's reading something.
