The movie is fantastic. Sad in the end, but this alternative ending was just weird. I understand why it was not the final version.

Is this the alternate ending?

Yeah the final version ended with Jacob escalating into an allconsuming light. That ending, too, felt like deceit, though I still remember it as being one of the most exciting films of my life -til the end ruined it. Why couldn't they have ended it in the same enigmatic way, making all fields of question and wonder flat?
