my god, of course its the real fontana di trevi, and not a studio.. its immpossible to rebuilt something so amazing...the sad thing is, this place is so damn full of tourist, that u can never go swimming in there, and when u do , the police comes, and they make u pay A LOT !

well, thankfully in the 80s, kids like me growing up there managed to do just that. Prior to mas tourism, at night, like 3AM, Rome could be that solitary and deserted. yet, you never felt in danger or scared by the fact nobody was around. I did swim in it many times and yes, I almost got arrested twice, but we also knew how to run in the dark streets nearby. My cousin still lives in an apartment with windows right on the fountain.

They shot some scenes in the real fountain of Trevi and some in studio. Italian craftsmen are so good that they can make it look like the real thing!
