okay. now i just want to say... patti is my preference,,,, partially because she is a friend of mine, and i truly love ALL her songs... that being said... aretha injected soul and passion into a very soulful and jazzy version of this classic. DEFINTELY beats judy garland,,, this sounds liek a great jazz ballad. i love it, but for me, it does a different effect than patti's, less passion and not as WOW! factor. but it is smooth and soothnig. could sleep to this one. they should duet.

I don't like aretha or patti but I dislike patti MORE. Because of exactly the reason you said. Patti screams so much and claims to sing? She totally copies Sara Vaughan, with the dynamic range. Sara I think beats all competition but thats my opinion
