How to make a crochet beanie

5, join

1. 10 SC in chain loop, join (10SC)

2. CH 1, 2 SC in each SC, continue around, join (20 SC)

3. CH 1, 1 SC in next SC, 2 SC in next SC,continue around, join (30SC)

4. CH 1, SC in each of the next 2 SC, 2 SC in next SC,continue around, join (40SC)

5. Ch 1, 1 SC in each of the next 3 SC, 2 SC in next SC,continue around, join (50SC)

6. CH 1, 1 SC in each of the next 4 SC, 2 SC in next SC,continue around, Do Not Join (60SC)

7. SC in next single crochet and continue around.

Your hat will be in a continual round without stopping to join. Your contrasting marker will show you your beginning. Complete your hat to the length you want. Sew in tails.

*If you want your hat larger:1. Use a larger hook at the start or midway through your hat.2.Add an additional row of increases: (this would come after round 6) 5 SC in each of the next 5 SC, 2 SC in next SC,continue around, Do Not Join (70SC)

Attach a contrasting color to the beginning sc on round 4 or 5. This will make it easy to see the beginning. Once you have completed round 1-6 you can finish the hat in one round.

Row 1: 1SC in next stitch, 2 SC in next stitch over the next 25 stitches. At the end of the row, skip one stitch on the main part of the hat and Slip Stitch in the next stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 2: SC in each SC. At the end of the row, skip one stitch on the main part of the hat and Slip Stitch in the next stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 3: SC in space just made and SC in each SC across. At the end of the row, skip one stitch on the main part of the hat and Slip Stitch in the next stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 4: SC in space just made and SC in each SC across. At the end of the row, skip one stitch on the main part of the hat and Slip Stitch in the next stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

I have had some moms comment that they are teaching their 8-10 year olds to crochet. There are a lot of young kids that love to crochet.
