dude, ya know what i just started to question? cedric does way different vocals in mars volta. was that because of the other band members wanting the more punk-rock than jazz-fusion-ish look, or was that because cedric's voice just developed differently? they were pretty young when at the drive-in was around ya know

well he was still maturing during at the drive-in i guess, he was 17 when it formed in 1993, so 2001 when they broke up he was like...25? ur voice can keep getting better through your thirties i'd think, and for the first couple years it was puberty haha. also i think this was the voice they kinda wanted, because its post-hardcore punk, and this is kind of a really good voice for that. i noticed that in the videos from big day out 2001 tho that he must've worn out his voice, it slowly gets worse

Wow, Cedric is actually singing more than he's jumping around. He and Omar seem surprisingly sober... maybe they couldn't get any drugs in Japan haha.

I'm afraid he acted so sober because of the background of this song. It's about 2 young girls who were in the first band of cedric (he drummed for the band) the 2 girls died in a car accident on march 23 in austin, texas.
"from austin's yellow brick road"
"march 23rd hushed the wind, the music died"
"seventeen, embalmed and caskets" (they were 17 years old.
