The White Stripes - St. James Infirmary Blues

Hmph. Wasn't familiar with the White Stripes before, but now I know why I never bothered. I'll give em credit for doing an original take on it, but they still blew a classic.

You're right; it was a hasty dismissal. Maybe I'll listen to something else one of these days.

Satchmo's version is brilliant, definitely the best version in my opinion. Although The White Stripes had some neat things going on, your right, it really lacks the meat of some of the older versions.

ya i do im a musician and know quite a bit about music. i play over 5 instruments these guy(or guy and girl) were just experimenting and i was saying check out the movie

Jack white doesn't play jazz ..it's blues and sting isn't in the movie It's the edge.

It doesn't have to be exactly the same as the original to be good blues : / Its just not -pure- blues, thats all. Theres definite strong influences though. In fact, I'd be dissapointed if thats what cover songs were all about, just plain old copying instead of revamping.
