It's well documented that Jeffrey Daniel taught Michael Jackson a lot of moves that Jackson made famous and took the credit for. Jeffrey isn't bitter though, because he said he learned a lot from Jackson too, and got the chance to choreograph his routines. The facts are there if people can be bothered to do their research !...
Doesn't matter where the stuff originated. Its about the intangible "IT " factor brought to the craft. Jeffery Daniels could hang with mike but the ability to make people give a damn is what it comes down to. People forget Mike could hold a crowd standing still or singing accapella while sitting on a stool. The dancing was actually his secondary talent .
The backslide probably been around before Bill Bailey did it, Done by mostly African Americans, I can't believe people still can't find the originator of this killer move.
Jeffrey wasnt the only guy doing this move. This move has been around decades before popping was around. When tv's were still black and white, the backslide was being done by dancers. All moves evolve over time because people practice them more and work on technique.
I'm sure MJ was dancing long before this guy, but don't forget, most of us in the UK hadn't seen this style before way back in 1982. He was sheer joy to watch and there was nothing to compare this style of dancing with at the time. He just looked great, as did Michael. I don't think it matters who did what first, there have been many imitators, good and bad and it has changed and evolved, but is still amazing to watch today.
Look up Jackson5 motown audition. when mike was 9 or 10 and hadn't been touched by any of these people that supposedly taught Mike to move, and tell us if there was really a time when Mike ly coudn't dance!!.. Are y'all crazy!!?.
