I dont believe punk is dead but it has gone from tv and radio although the sex pistols rarely did any of that if you go to small towns you will find there are punk bands who just need a push.

Punk narcissism was social napalm,
Johnny Rotten started doing real harm.
Preaching revolution, anarchy and change
As he sucked from the system that had given him his name.
(Crass with one adjustment)

Johnny forgot people CHANGE. True musicians/artists experiment for the sake of originality. They don't follow the crowd like these emo/pop bands do. Radiohead is best example. They make ridicilous anti-commercial music but sell like hotdogs. Just because the Sex pistols decided to stay the same doesn't mean others have to do it. Even John experimented with PIL and the pistols didn't want to be famous but were! He's right about the most but a lot of hypocrisy shines through also.
