Listening to this makes me wonder why he never wrote more chamber music. I mean, this is, in my opinion, far from as brilliant as his symphonies, but its still quite beautiful, especially considering he was only 16 when he wrote it. Anyway, thanks for posting this rare and overlooked piece!
I am not a musician but it sounds so interesting and modern and beautiful. Was it uncompleted or revised or something like that? This quartet could have been more famous considering the musical tastes of our time. The emotional tension is unmistakably and purely mahlerian. thank you!

Mahler's dates, by the way, are more like 1860 - 1811. The dates you have here I'd peg as belonging to Bohuslav Martinu.
