That loud weird dubbed voice scared the hell outta me when I first saw this scene.

They should have kept this scene. It wasn't too long and certainly gives a good spook.

Yes, definitely. So was Rosemary's Baby. But it wasn't a very good movie.

In Silent Hill 2 there is a memo in the apartment for "Dear Tim," while the key you get from the coin puzzle is the "Lyne House Key."

Also one of the images that can be ripped from the Silent Hill 1 disc is the exact replica of the poster that Jacob sees in the train at the very beginning of the film. It reads:
"HELL
That's what life can be doing drugs...
But it doesn't have to be that way
Help is available day or night."

Cool, I never knew about those references. I'm sure there must have been some in the 4th game, but it was the weakest and I never finished it...
