I know people may disagree with me on this, but Hugh Laurie actually seems down and mildly depressed in this, very brooding at the very least. I don't mean just this particular question - it's the whole interview in which he seems slightly troubled. I think, actually, thinking about this further, that he suffered from mild depression around this time too. Maybe he hadn't a very good day. Wait - I may have read things into this... Well, well...
